MoHERI meets with the Hungarian delegation to discuss potential collaboration opportunities in research and innovation
HE Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al Haddabi, Undersecretary for Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), has held a meeting with HE Dr. Tibor Szatmári, Ambassador of Hungary to the Sultanate, the Deputy Head of Mission and the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Hungary on the 16th of February 2021 at Innovation Park Muscat to discuss potential collaboration opportunities between the Sultanate of Oman and Hungary in the areas of research and innovation.
The objective of the meeting is to show the Hungarian delegation potential cooperation opportunities within the Research and Innovation Sector, and to inform them about the sector, its programs and strategies, its funding, and more in order to strengthen the ties between Oman and Hungary in the research and innovation fields.
When speaking about potential collaboration with Hungary, HE Dr. Saif Al Haddabi stressed that “international collaboration is a main component” of the Research and Innovation Sector and the sector seeks to “fill the gap in the ecosystem through its programs, regulations and incentives”.
The meeting consisted of a set of presentations by representatives of the Research and Innovation Sector at MoHERI, providing an overview of the National Innovation Strategy, the research funding programs such as the Block Funding Program, the COVID-19 Research Program and the Strategic Research Programs, EJAAD platform, Oman Animal and Plant Genetic Resources Center (Mawarid), and Innovation Park Muscat (IPM).
